About Me

I have worked with individuals, families and children over the last 25 years as a youth worker, family worker and in the justice sector. I then moved to work full time in Isis where I have built up a successful Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy business specialising in HypnoBirthing® and in a range of emotional and behavioural treatments.

I am a qualified and experienced Medical and Clinical Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist.

I have three beautiful daughters, all born between 23 and 16 years ago.  My own experience of giving birth all those years ago, led me to seek a different experience for my own daughters.  My first grandchild was born in January 2012, after 20 minutes 'labour' and one 'push' using HypnoBirthing®. Like many 'Hypno-babies', she is an excellent sleeper and a very content baby. There are many options out there and I have researched them over a number of years.  I am convinced that this is the answer.
HypnoBirthing® was developed by Mickey Mongan, an American Hypnotherapist.  Many Brits might be less than impressed by some of the things that we import from America, but I am utterly convinced that this is the most effective method of achieving control in what, for some, is a frightening time.  My existing expertise in hypnotherapy compliments the other information and support that you will receive from your midwife.  I can provide specialist, personalised support to families and individuals, whether specific, deeper issues around birth, or postnatal issues including anxiety, breastfeeding or other issues.

For most of our lives, women have been inundated with the negative stories of other women’s birth experiences.  Mothers, sisters, aunts, cousins, friends, and even strangers, seem to want to tell us all about the horrors of giving birth. We have been conditioned to believe that excruciating pain is associated with labour.  Because of this, women today hold an  unprecedented fear of giving birth.  This extreme fear causes our bodies to become tense and that tension prohibits us from easily performing a   normal physiological function.  The result is exactly what we feared the most - a long   and painful birthing experience or unnecessary interventions.

People like me who are drawn to this method of childbirth have long been searching for a way to  give birth confidently and as calmly, safely, and gently as possible, whether this is in a hospital, a birthing centre or at home.  Until HypnoBirthing®, this kind of birthing  almost seemed unattainable  for the general population.

HypnoBirthing® is a simple programme of self-hypnosis and education.  Healthy, low-risk women, as well as women who need medical assistance because of  special circumstances, learn to dismiss fear-based stories and misinformation.  They are helped to see birth as normal. They learn to trust that their bodies know how to bring their babies  into the world in the calm and gentle way that Nature intended.
